Is it a good time to invest in the stock market?

Should money be shifted from bonds to stocks given the market's recent rise?

With 401(k)s taking a beating, is there anything workers can do to protect their remaining assets?

Many blue chip stocks have dropped to historic lows, so is this a good time to consider buying some?

These are just a few of the questions that were discussed during a presentation on modbee.com called "Focus on Personal Finance" with The Bee's business editor, David W. Hill, and Jason M. Gordo of Valley Wealth Inc. The first segment will appear on www.modbee.com today and the second segment will appear April 11.

Gordo and partner Jeffrey Burrow are the founders of Valley Wealth, a Modesto-based financial planning and services company. He is an accredited investment fiduciary and chartered retirement planning specialist who focuses on money management for individuals, families, professionals, businesses, charitable foundations and other institutions.

Questions were solicited from readers and online users with the goal of addressing the personal financial issues most people face. Although every situation is different, the online presentation was conducted to encourage people to carefully examine their finances.

Gordo acknowledged people often put off dealing with their finances because they seem too complex and confusing. He said putting the time and energy into getting a handle on those issues is one of the best investments anyone can make.

For those who don't know where to start, he suggested talking to trusted friends, family members and advisers to get recommendations about accredited financial planners and other professionals.

People who have questions about personal finances still can submit them to The Bee for use in future programs. Questions should be sent to dhill@modbee.com.

Bee business editor David W. Hill can be reached at dhill@modbee.com or 578-2336.
