Synopsis: Just before 1 a.m., deputies were called to a shooting in the 1500 block of Modoc Avenue, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department. A 17-year-old from Manteca was pronounced dead at the scene. Two girls also were injured. The teens had been sitting in a parked car on Modoc when a white sport utility vehicle drove past them, according to detectives. Occupants of the SUV fired at the car, then fled, authorities said. Two Modesto girls, ages 16 and 17, were shot, officials said. Authorities said one is paralyzed and the other is in stable condition.

Motivation: Detectives believe the shooting likely was gang-related.

Suspect: Unknown
