2 found in Manteca home possible murder-suicide victims

December 30, 2008

A man and woman were found dead in a Manteca home on Monday, the apparent victims of a murder-suicide, according to The Record of Stockton.

It’s not known if the two, who were in their mid-40s, were married. Their identities had not been released as of Tuesday morning.

They were found fatally shot in the single-story home in the 1000 block of Gladiola Lane, according to the Record.

A relative checking on the pair called police just before 10 a.m. Monday to report she had found a woman dead inside the house, police Officer Rex Osborn, a department spokesman, told the Record. Family members had not heard from the two since Saturday, Osborn said.

When officers arrived, they found the man and woman lying in a front room, dead from gunshot wounds. Investigators believe the man fatally shot the woman before turning the gun on himself, the Record reported.

Detectives re-entered the mostly empty home about 1 p.m. after receiving a search warrant and stayed at the scene as the sun set. They found a handgun inside, Osborn said, and authorities were waiting to confirm whether it was the weapon used in the deaths.
