Vintage repaving job at mall

Vintage Faire Mall is seeing green as it resurfaces more than 12 acres of the mall parking lot with a technique that reuses the existing asphalt.

“We are saving resources by using a system called ‘cold in-place recycling,’” said mall property manager Maria Halstead in a news release.

The photos attest to that.

In the first photo, a crew from Pave West lays recycled asphalt Tuesday outside the mall.

In the second, Edwin Rodas from Pavement Recycling inspects some of the asphalt from the mall parking lot that the company is using for repaving the shopping center.

In the third shot, a front-end loader feeds the recycling system outside Macy’s. Vintage Faire is the first Macerich property in the country to use this process
