2. (5) Sonora (1-0): Dan Link scored on a 70-yard interception return to key a 27-point fourth quarter and lead the Wildcats past Johansen 27-20.

3. (nr) Turlock (1-0): The Bulldogs got one of the big wins from opening weekend, as Tharon Gallegos ran for 217 yards in 14-7 upset of Oakdale.

4. (nr) Manteca (1-0): Buffs debuted their new passing duo: Matt Barber tossed two TDs to junior Reggie Bell during a 27-20 victory over Beyer.

5. (4) Davis (1-0): Spartans trailed early before rallying for a surprisingly difficult 14-7 win over Ceres; Davis' lack of a passing attack kept it close.
