Stagg High rallied for 20 second-half points to beat Modesto 32-25 on Friday night.
"There were lots of penalties, lots of turnovers," Modesto coach Rod Long said. "We have to learn from this. We can't keep making mistakes."
Modesto fell behind 6-0 on a defensive TD, but reeled off 18 unanswered points and led 18-12 at halftime. Andre Barry brought the Panthers back into the game, catching a 9-yard scoring pass from Klayton Miller and then returning an interception 30 yards late in the first quarter for a 12-6 lead.
