LOS BANOS -- It didn't take long for Rubal Sangha to live up to his new nickname.

"The Showman" took center stage on opening night, as the Los Banos senior hauled in three touchdown catches and intercepted two passes on defense in a 35-14 win over Fresno at Loftin Stadium.

"I actually like the nickname," said Sangha, who caught six passes for 122 yards. "Everyone has been calling me 'The Showman.'

"Even in the game, my teammates were saying, 'Don't they know The Showman is on this team.' "

Sangha didn't take long to get going.

Quarterback Erik Martin sidestepped a rusher, stepped up in the pocket and delivered a perfect strike to Sangha for a 61-yard touchdown pass on LB's first possession.

Martin hooked up two more times with Sangha in the second quarter to give Los Banos a 28-0 lead at halftime.

"We've got so many ways to use Rubal," said Tigers coach Dennis Stubbs, whose team outgained Fresno 292 to 61 yards in the first half.

"We've got different routes. Erik made some great reads and we got good protection.

"The thing is Rubal is a great kid and you like to see good things happen to guys like that.

"We told him it's not going to be that easy when teams try to take him away. He might not believe us after tonight."
