7 nabbed in probation sweep

Seven people in Oakdale and the surrounding area were arrested in a probation sweep touched off by a rise in vehicle burglaries and property crimes in the city, according to police Lt. Vernon Gladney.

Police and the Stanislaus County Probation Department searched 31 residences and made arrests on everything from suspicion of probation violations to new crimes, Gladney said. It was the second such sweep this year, Gladney said.
