Sentencing delayed in Turlock sex case

Former Pitman High teacher Carl Kubicek will wait two more months before he is sentenced for two felony sex crimes with a 17-year-old girl.

Defense attorney Frank Carson asked to delay Kubicek's sentencing until Oct. 16, when Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge John G. Whiteside is back from medical leave. Kubicek has the legal right to be sentenced before the same judge who accepted his plea.

He pleaded no contest last month to two felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with his then 17-year-old student.
