Stanislaus County sheriff's deputies arrested a former player for the Minnesota Vikings after they were called to a disturbance at a Modesto motel.

The Sheriff's Department said officers responded a fight at the Arrow Motel about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday between the manager and Timothy Meamber, 45.

Meamber was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was being held at the county jail.

Meamber, a star linebacker at the University of Washington, played for the Minnesota Vikings in 1985. He was injured and released.
