The community is encouraged to attend the Stanislaus Union School District board meeting Thursday night to help trustees decide whether or not to place a $39.8 million bond before voters in November. The bond would increase property taxes for owners living inside the district's boundaries in north Modesto. The district's bond plan hopes to secure an additional $25.2 million in state money for construction, for a total of $65 million. The plan includes $20.9 million for expansion and modernization at Prescott Senior Elementary School, the district's only junior high; $24.1 million in upgrades at the other six schools; $3 million for a district office; and $3 million for technology renovations. The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the Agnes Baptist Elementary School multipurpose room, 1825 Cheyenne Way. For more information, call 529-9546.
