Interactive: A Week of Burglary

The Modesto Police Department tracks every home, commercial and auto burglary and provides maps to dectectives weekly. This allows them to provide extra enforcement in targeted areas. Police also can use a special phone-notification system to send recorded alert messages to people who live in those areas so they can be on the lookout. The Bee used police data to illustrate where burglars hit during the week of Jan. 20-26.
