The Modesto City Council on Tuesday voted to:
- Hire a Livermore company to rebuild about a mile of pavement on Sylvan Avenue between McHenry Avenue and Coffee Road. Top Grade Construction can earn as much as $1.8 million for the work, which is expected to take place between April and July. Its bid came in 37.7 percent below the city's estimate.
- Approve an application for $3.36 million in funding from a state transportation bond. The funds can be used on a mix of projects through 2011.
