Turlock police are investigating the death of a young woman whose body was found in Pedretti Park, and coroner's deputies are trying to identify her. Sgt. Steven Williams said a passer-by found the body and called police just before 5 a.m. Friday. Chief Deputy Coroner Kristi Herr said the body is that of a 15- to 25-year-old, possibly a Latina, who was about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 120 to 130 pounds.

She had medium-length brown hair and brown eyes. She wore a black South Pole sweat shirt with gold lettering over a white South Pole T-shirt, also with gold lettering. She also wore blue jeans and white Nike tennis shoes. All the clothes appeared new, Herr said.

Although the victim's age cannot be pinpointed, Herr said, the style of clothing is more fitting of a teenager. She wore no jewelry and had no tattoos and appeared well cared for. Her fingerprints are not on record and there are no missing persons report for anyone matching her description, Herr said.

The coroner's office asks anyone who can help identify the body to call 552-2468 and ask for the on-call deputy coroner, or call 567-4507. Police ask anyone with information about the woman to contact Detective Brandon Bertram at 668-5550, ext. 6623.
