'Ninja parade' again goes unnoticed in Modesto

MODESTO - Did you miss the 30th annual Modesto ninja parade? Of course you did. No one noticed, according to a spoof news report showing on the Onion News Network.

"In Modesto, Calif., today, crowds turned out for the annual Modesto County Ninja Parade, which once again passed through town entirely undetected," intones anchorman Michael Bannon at the beginning of the "America in Focus" report.

The fake news report shows crowds lining the empty streets of a town that purportedly is Modesto.

The Onion News Network is the online arm of the satirical newspaper "The Onion." The mock piece on Modesto (which as residents well know is in Stanislaus County, not Modesto County) appears on theonion.com home page.
