Your Take: He won't feel insulted

I would like to respond to the comment Joe Torre made that he was insulted because the New York Yankees had offered him a one-year deal worth $5 million plus incentives because he did not make the playoffs.

Baseball and all other professional sports have become so out of touch with the rest of the working world that they make comments like this. There was an article in The Bee that showed what a family needed to earn just for basic survival and it was nowhere close to what Torre was insulted for.

I would like to tell the Yankees that I will coach them for $1 million and not take them to the playoffs either. They can save $4 million, and I will not feel insulted.
