Following a summer of hard work in the weight room, coach Therion Gregory rewarded his senior with a promotion and more responsibility.

"We moved Alex to fullback this year to take advantage of his speed and strength," Gregory said. "At the fullback slot, he will get most of the carries in our wing-T offense."

Correia made good on 21 carries last week, gaining 191 yards and scoring two TDs -- and adding a third on a 93-yard kickoff return -- in a 41-24 win over Waterford. He has 1,050 yards and 15 TDs, compared to 587 yards and eight TDs as a halfback last year.

"Alex is a very versatile back," said Gregory, whose fullback has 542 yards and eight TDs in the last three games. Correia also has 32 tackles and two interceptions. "You can line him up anywhere and he will contribute. He has good speed to run away from you and he has the power and burst to run through tacklers. We feel that if we get Alex in the open field he will score."
