Modesto police confiscated Scott Peterson’s new truck Tuesday morning as they served a second search warrant at his Covena Avenue home. Peterson’s wife, Laci, was reported missing Dec. 24. She was eight months pregnant at the time. Her husband said he last saw her when he left at 9:30 a.m. for a fishing trip.

“We are still not calling Scott Peterson a suspect yet,” police spokesman Detective Doug Ridenour said.

He said Peterson cooperated with investigators, and asked them for some personal and work-related items from inside the home.

Officers packed up the items, and Peterson left in another vehicle. Police arrived at about 7 a.m. At 11:30, the truck remained in the driveway, but investigators said they planned to take it away and examine it at another location.

They said little else.

“The position of the Modesto Police Department has been and remains that no details about this investigation will be released,” said Detective Craig Grogan, lead investigator in the Peterson case, said in a prepared statement.

Earlier this month, Scott Peterson traded in his wife’s Land Rover on a 2002 Dodge pickup. The Land Rover has since been returned to Laci Peterson’s side of the family.

Police already searched the Peterson home once, on Dec. 26. They confiscated Scott Peterson’s Ford F-150 pickup and his boat.
