TURLOCK - The victim and the suspect in a fatal stabbing over the weekend were fighting over money, police said Monday.

Police on Sunday identified the victim as 23-year-old Turlock resident Lamondrea Brown and the suspect as Arthur Maunakea, 52, of Turlock.

Sgt. Nino Amirfar said Brown's girlfriend was Maunakea's great-niece. The two men started arguing over money, then went their separate ways, Amirfar said.

They encountered each other again Saturday afternoon in the 1200 block of North Olive Avenue. A "hysterical female" called police to report the stabbing.

Brown was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police ask anyone with information regarding this stabbing to call Detective Lee Medlin at 668-5550, ext. 6627, or Crime Stoppers at 521-4636.
