FOUR MODESTO MEN LOSE BIDS FOR PAROLE:
A Modesto man who was convicted of second-degree murder and attempted voluntary manslaughter in 1982 was denied parole last month after a hearing at Solano State Prison, according to a statement from the Stanislaus County district attorney's office. Terry Clark, 58, was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison after he was convicted of shooting one man and injuring another. He and a friend believed the men had stolen property from them. They lured the victims to a residence by promising to sell them methamphetamine, then ambushed them. Clark has been denied parole six times and will have another hearing in one year.
A Modesto man who was convicted of robbery and first-degree murder for his part in a 1982 home invasion robbery was denied parole last month after a hearing at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, according to a statement from the Stanislaus County district attorney's office. The authorities said Frank Aleo, 62, of Modesto planned the robbery of a drug dealer and acted as the getaway driver as his nephew and two others shot the drug dealer and ransacked his home. Aleo, who was denied parole in 2004, will have another hearing in five years.
A Modesto man who rammed his estranged wife's car in 1995, killing his 21-year-old stepdaughter in the process, was denied parole last month after a hearing at Solano State Prison, according to a statement from the Stanislaus County district attorney's office. Richard Hueitt, 50, told authorities he was trying to damage his wife's car so she couldn't visit a man. His truck was traveling 40 mph when it rammed into her Volkswagen Beetle. He had chased her for several miles after she left the Glo Worm, a local bar. The authorities said Hueitt had threatened to kill his estranged wife nine times in the four months before the assault. Hueitt was convicted of second-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon in 1996. This was his first parole hearing; he will have another chance to plead his case in three years.
Modesto man who fired shots into a crowd after a Friday night football game in 1990 was denied parole last month after a hearing at Soledad State Prison, according to a statement by the Stanislaus County district attorney's office. In 1991, Kheth Khun, 19, was convicted of three counts of attempted murder as well as the use of a firearm, then sentenced to three life terms in prison. The authorities said Khun belonged to a street gang known as the Modesto Hit Squad and fired into the crowd in the parking lot of the Pizza Pub on Kansas Avenue because he wanted to confront his rivals. Two bystanders, who were Modesto High School students, were seriously wounded. An Oakdale man who was tried with Khun, and accused of offering Khun, now 36, $300 to shoot a cowboy, was acquitted. The cowboys were a group of Modesto High School students who wore Western clothes. Khun will have another parole hearing in two years.
